Calgary Legal Guidance provides free and confidential legal advice in evening clinics and outreach clinics for low-income Calgarians who are not eligible for legal aid. Call 587-674-2282 to make an appointment or find out if you are eligible for free legal services Telephone lines are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) With the support of a Community Initiatives Program grant, we were able to add a full-time lawyer to the staff in 2008 and received full funding for the Alberta Law position Foundation from 2010. Over the years, we have also developed many programs to meet the needs of our community and we are very proud of the innovation that 2009 brought to the entire central Alberta region via videoconference. In 2013, the clinic answered the call to help people in family law matters and launched the Family Lawyer Project in provincial and Queen`s Bench courts. We managed this program for 3 years until it was handed over to the Legal Aid Directorate in December 2015. Legal advice and support for immigrants and refugees seeking help in a variety of immigration matters (with the exception of citizenship). Legal advice and support for people seeking access to government social programs The Community Legal Clinic began as a pro bono committee of the Central Alberta Bar Society as part of a centennial project. In 2004, we were granted non-profit status and service delivery began in January 2005. Membership in the Central Alberta Bar Society remains a strong supporter of the clinic to this day.
