Scanned glass has no legal size. I can print legal-sized documents, but I don`t scan them. I thought that if I inserted it from the top, it would scan the whole document. This is an 8600. I`ve had it for 4 and a half years and assumed I had installed all the software. They believe that the ADF does not support legal-sized scans. I use HP Easy Scan software to scan documents. I scan a multi-page document via the document feeder above. The document is letter-sized, but I end up with a legal-sized scan.
You can print a legal size, but the scanned glass or automatic document feeder is not suitable for this task. Ok, I kept downloading the latest version of the Offetjet Pro 8600 Premium all-in-one software. When I “crop” to the size of a letter, my document goes up and the top is cut. All settings are set to letter, but when I enter the scan settings, it says “auto” and doesn`t allow me anything else, so my letter-sized document is legally scanned. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED! Do you have a link or can you explain the software with all the features? I don`t think this is installed on my printer because my screen doesn`t have all the configuration options displayed by your image. Make sure the paper size is set to Legal, then press the Scan button to finish scanning. Once I have the information, I can do a better job of researching the problem. I am configured to print/scan wirelessly. I believe the HP Smart software was recently updated to add advanced features, but I don`t remember if that`s when the scanning problem started or not. I understand that installing the full software works as mentioned, but that doesn`t explain why it happens out of nowhere. If you have not installed the FULL feature (including Scan sofwtare), try this wizard: Click on the gear/settings icon next to “Presets” at the top and save this preset for later use. Download and install the full HP printing software for your operating system: Press OK, then try scanning and checking the differences. No kidding! I use the document feeder. It should be able to browse the feeder and render a PDF file in 11 x 14, but I don`t see any way to do that.
