SWD services vary according to individual student needs. Figure 4 shows the most frequently offered special education services. As can be seen, specialized university education is the most common service. This category includes any type of specific practice that adapts content, methodology or the provision of instructions to facilitate TAs` access to the general curriculum. Examples are individual lessons, subject lessons in a separate class, or modified assignments. Other commonly offered services include language and language support, career and college outreach activities, and various types of therapies for physical and psychological needs that can affect an SWD`s educational level. 6. Federal requirement that ITIs for SWDs aged 16 and older include a coordinated package of services to improve the transition from high school to post-secondary education, work programs and/or independent living. The federal law contains 13 classifications of disability. To be eligible for special education services under federal law, students must have a primary disability that falls into one of the 13 categories listed in Figure 2. The figure shows that approximately 686,000 SWDs between the ages of 3 and 22 receive special education services in California. About 618,000 are in K-12 grades, accounting for about 10 percent of the state`s total K-12 enrollment. c. a lawful mark that has subsequently become non-compliant as a result of the adoption of a regulation, the period for retrieving the notification under the regulation to tear up the notification has expired and compliance has not been reached; In the event that any of the above reasons occur, the STPS will inform the natural or legal person so that he can indicate within five working days what he considers appropriate and take the appropriate decision. The service model of charter-only APIS is generally different from that of regional consortium APES. Because charter-only SELPAs can include statewide charter schools, their service model is generally different from traditional SELPA consortia, which include members from the same geographic region.
In particular, individual members of chartered APIS only generally operate their own special education services, either by recruiting or using qualified staff. Some charter schools seek economies of scale by forming special education services collaborations outside of the traditional SERPA structure, either with other charter schools or with neighboring school districts. However, unlike traditional SELPAs, works councils that only manage charter SELPAs generally do not organize such cooperation agreements. Medical services – Hospitals are hospitals and similar facilities that primarily provide comprehensive medical diagnosis and treatment, including surgical and other hospital services. These facilities have organized medical staff, inpatient beds and equipment and facilities to ensure comprehensive health care. May include on-site accessory clinics and laboratories, accessory retail applications, and emergency helipads (see separate definition of accessory retail applications). Public schools need special support for students with disabilities. Federal law requires schools to “provide parents with a specially defined education and related services free of charge to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.” Schools are required by law to provide this special assistance to students with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 22 or until high school graduation, whichever comes first.
